Living alone · gentle dead-man's switch

Living alone, never unseen. A gentle 3-stage watch — not a cold alarm.

Check in when you're okay, at your own pace. If you miss a check-in, Solokey reminds you first → gives you a grace period → and only then notifies the contacts you chose. A server-side watch keeps working even if your phone is off, and your encrypted vault is released only if an escalation triggers.

Solokey product overview
What makes it different

The gentle middle ground between unseen and alarming

Other apps either send one easily-ignored notification, or jump straight to a jarring emergency alarm. Solokey uses a three-stage escalation — remind you first → grace period → only then alert your contacts — and every stage is visible and configurable. Escalation states are shown in calm amber, never red alerts, to keep false-alarm panic to a minimum.

Timeline of the gentle 3-stage escalation: remind you first, then grace, then notify contacts
Released only on trigger

An end-to-end encrypted vault even we can't read

Where the spare key is, how to care for your pet, a message for family — all of it is encrypted on your device. Our servers hold only ciphertext, with no path to read it. Only when a dead-man escalation truly triggers can the contacts you authorized for each item decrypt and view it. Your private key is generated in the device secure enclave and never uploaded.

End-to-end encrypted vault: only ciphertext is stored, released to chosen contacts only on escalation

What's live today

Two core capabilities plus five supporting ones — making "never unseen" solid and gentle.

Live

Scheduled check-in + server-side dead-man watch

Tap "I'm OK" on your schedule. If you miss it, the server (not the client) runs a gentle three-stage escalation — even when your phone is off.

Live

End-to-end encrypted vault

Keys, care notes, messages stay end-to-end encrypted; the server never sees plaintext and items release to your chosen contacts only on escalation.

Live

Emergency contact management

Invite and confirm family or neighbors, set per-item visibility and channel (push / email), so the right people really receive the alert.

Live

Flexible escalation ladders

Customize check-in intervals, self-reminder lead time, and grace length to fit your routine — minimizing false triggers from travel or sleeping in.

Live

Multi-plan status dashboard

See every check-in plan's next due time, current stage, and countdown in one screen, with grace states clearly marked in amber.

Live

One-tap check-in + calm undo

Tap "I'm OK" right from the notification without opening the app; if you trigger an escalation by mistake, a calm-undo window lets you cancel.

Live

Contact acknowledgment page

A notified contact can mark "reached them" or "checked in person," so other contacts and you know the situation is handled.

Set up your safety net in three steps

A few minutes to set, then it's nearly invisible — working only when you truly need it.

1

Set your check-in rhythm

Choose how often you tap "I'm OK" — daily, weekly, or custom — and tune your self-reminder lead time and grace length.

2

Add people you trust

Invite family or neighbors as emergency contacts; once they confirm, you set per-item what they can see if an escalation triggers.

3

Live with peace of mind

Just tap "I'm OK" on time. If you miss it, the server reminds you first, gives a grace period, and only then gently notifies your contacts.

Frequently asked

1. Is Solokey an alarm or emergency-response service?

No. Solokey is a peace-of-mind check-in tool — not a medical device, emergency dispatch, alarm, or first-responder service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services directly. We make no guarantee that any contact will respond or act.

2. What happens if I miss a check-in?

No one is alerted immediately. You're reminded first during a grace period; only after the grace window passes with no response do we gently notify the contacts you chose. Even on a false trigger, a calm-undo window lets you cancel.

3. Can you read what's in my vault?

No. Vault items are encrypted on your device before they're uploaded; the server stores only ciphertext, with no path to read plaintext. Your private key stays in the device secure enclave and is never uploaded. Only when an escalation truly triggers can the contacts you authorized for each item decrypt and view it.
