Solokey Privacy Policy

1. What Solokey is

Solokey is a check-in companion for people who live alone. You check in when you are okay. If you miss a check-in, Solokey gently reminds you first, and only then notifies the contacts you chose. Solokey is not a medical, emergency, or alarm service.

2. Data we store

We store your account profile, your check-in plans and their schedules, the emergency contacts you add, and your encrypted vault items. Vault contents are encrypted on your device before they ever reach our servers — we store only ciphertext and can never read them.

3. End-to-end encryption

Your vault private key is generated on your device and stored in the device secure enclave. It never leaves your device and is never uploaded. Vault items can only be decrypted by you, or — if an escalation triggers — by the specific contacts you authorized for each item.

4. Emergency contacts

When you invite a contact, we send them a one-time invitation so they can confirm. Contacts are only notified if you miss a check-in and the gentle reminder window passes. They never see your vault unless an escalation triggers and you authorized them for that item.

5. Optional AI message polishing

If you choose to polish a message with AI, that text is sent to a third-party AI provider (an LLM API) solely to rewrite your wording. It is not stored by us for that purpose and is not used to train models. AI polishing is off by default; you can enable or disable it anytime in Settings.

6. Notifications

With your permission we send you reminder notifications before any escalation. Server-side checks run even when your phone is off, so your safety net keeps working. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We use trusted infrastructure providers only to operate the service (for example, secure hosting and message delivery).

8. Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion erases your plans, contacts, and encrypted vault, and stops all future notifications. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke that authorization. This cannot be undone.

9. Your choices

You control what you store, who your contacts are, and whether AI polishing is enabled. You can export or delete your data at any time. For questions, contact us at support@solokey.app.
